If It’s Monday, It’s Mama…

C is for Caesura and Courage

We are only 13 days into this New Year and already, so much life has happened. And death. It, too, has happened.
Thirteen days in and already we have buried your beloved Papaw, but you have grown closer to your Mamaw.
We have lost a dear friend, Ken Neller, but we have gained a renewed appreciation for the value of living a life for Christ.
You have worked and at times it has been HARD work, but you have learned that that is why work is called work and why applying ourselves to it brings joy to our souls.
You have returned to college after a long holiday with us, your family.  And, we enjoyed your presence in our home.  But, you also now can re-enjoy independent living as you return to your dorm.
Life fills and fills us up and if we are not careful, rather than us living our lives, our lives will live us.
That is why we need “Caesura” in our lives…
Caesura are natural breathing spaces in the lines of musical verse.  A quick respite to catch your breath and take in air.
My prayer for you as you live your LIFE-filled, activity-ridden, time-crunched life is to be sure to purposefully take a Caesura…..
Breathe in…
Excel out….
God did not put us here merely to exist.
He placed us here to LIVE and to live abundantly….
Fully…
Blessedly…
I’m not sure exactly how to do all God has for us, but He does, and I do believe it comes with pausing and breathing and praying and seeking Him….
Asking Him…
Breathing IN Him and OUT Him
In moments of our days….our lives
So, as you begin this new semester….the newest chapter in this musical called “life”, I challenge you to daily take Caesuras…….moments…..opportunities to breathe in and out….and discover not only what it is that God has for you, but more importantly, seek to know HIM….
And live….
And, within that living, I pray you find Courage…..
Courage in all aspects of your life…..in school, in work, in friendships, in worship, family, dating, loving….
In coming to Know GOD….
The campus minister of Southland Christian Church, Gary Black, wrote this….and, so I share with you….he says it well….
Have Courage….to seek to know HIM…..in your daily living…
Lord,
lately you're
Impressing upon me
that it's more important
to seek to know YOU
than it is to seek to know
Your will for my life.

I've spent a lot of
sleepless nights
trying to discover
what it is that you
want me to do.
Perhaps I should've been
trying to discover
YOU instead.

So today, Lord,
I'm seeking You.
I fully expect
to find You,
and when we connect,
each moment will
be very, very special

There is a difference, you know, between seeking His will for OUR lives and seeking to know HIM.
The former (first thing) is wanting to know about US…what is going to happen to us…for us….what will our lives be like.  But, the latter (the second part) is wanting to know HIM…becoming aware of Him….living for Him.
The difference lies in the focus...
If you seek to know God....HE will deliver on shaping your life because that is what He promises.  The more you come to know HIM, the more His messages, directions, encouragements shape you and your life. So, ultimately, Knowing Him, will draw you to knowing "them"....the paths of your life and you end up with both things.
And, the end result is knowing HIM changes YOU into who you need to be.
I would still seek His will for your life....but, I would strive harder to come to know Him.
Be boldly courageous in living your life.  Be even more bold in seeking to know Him.
In my own life, it is during those Caesura moments that I take Him in.....
Make time for the Caesura....
And, live in courage....and faith that what you seek, YOU Will find.
Blessings,
ILYAOYMC,
Mama

If It’s Monday, It’s Mama

B is for Beneloventia and Betty…..

Life changes at the foot of the Cross…..

Life is forever altered at the foot of a beloved Papaw’s grave…….may all those lessons you have learned this past week as you celebrate the life of your precious Papaw be put on fire in your heart and in your spirit and in your life.

As we enter our fourth year of “If It’s Monday, It’s Mama”, I decided to start each week’s blog with a letter of the alphabet, so this is Week “B”.  By year’s end, we will have gone through the alphabet two times.

B is for Benevolentia and Betty (Mamaw)

Benevolentia is Latin for kindness and benevolence, which is what you witnessed among your family this weekend as you laid to rest your 85 year old Papaw.  When one is drawn to the foot of another’s grave, in the lives of most people, grace for one another replaces all that which is opposite of grace.  unLove becomes LOVE, unForgiveness becomes FORGIVENESS, unCharity becomes Charity for one another.  And, those who embraced Him, act on this.

Beneloventia…..Goodwill…..Endearment

You were blessed to witness these things this weekend as you lay your Papaw James McKenzie to rest.  Little kindnesses and generosities…..warmer hugs…..people reaching out who had not before.  All in the name of family and all in honor of Papaw.

I challenge you…..don’t let your Benevolentia stop now that the flowers cover the grave of your Papaw and life has moved to the first and second and third…..sixth day after his going home.

Keep alive that sweetness and tenderness you felt as you were honoring him.  Don’t wait for others to lead you.  And, share it with others.

You became a woman the day you laid your Papaw in the ground just as your brothers became men.

Be womanly and Godly in your life as you move forward…..in honor of your Papaw and in HIS name….

Did you know that Betty is the feminine diminutive for Elizabeth?  So, you and your Mamaw Betty are connected via your names….and, I think that is why you have always had a special place in her heart as “her sweetie girl” and as Papaw’s “my girl.”

Mamaw is on a road she has not traveled before.  She has watched her sisters journey alone but it is different when you take to the path on your own.

And, while she is one of the strongest women I know, I am touched by how you have reached out to her during your Papaw’s passing.  You did a good job trying to get to see her over the holidays, standing up to your employer in insisting you have Thanksgiving off so you would be with them and then again battling for Christmas to be with Grammy and Poppy.

Precious are the things you and Mamaw have shared this past week….little memory gifts from God bonding granddaughter to grandmother all the rest of the days of your life and teaching you all along the way how to be a good grandmother when it becomes your time.

I know you cherish sleeping those first two nights with your Mamaw, listening to her speak of Papaw and other sacred Mamaw/Granddaughter things, some of which you have shared and some of which you hold close to your heart, as you should.

I am grateful for the late night calls you are making to your Mamaw when you know she is alone and lost…those hours alone before bedtime where she would  normally spend time with Papaw.  Hearing your laughter as you speak to her is precious music to my ears.  Keep it up…..keep calling and sharing and loving…..

It will be a gift you treasure always…..these moments with your grandparents….all of them.

I love you, Daughter.  I love everything about you.  Your sweet spirit, your Godly heart, even your times of weak humanity because I can see you striving to do better, to persist, to grow.

THAT is what life is about….growing….striving with one another and being kind and compassionate and loving to one another through the journey.

Benevolentia.

Blessings,

ILYAOYMC,

Mama

PS.  This week's Monday became Tuesday because I journed to Paintsville to pay respects to your Papaw and visit your little brother, Joseph and to pray.  It was the bitter-sweetest journey ever.  Thanks for your support.

Our Heritage is in the Lord….

As I look around our home, I see photos of old people staring at me from our walls.  Some don’t like them, thinking them forbidding or forlorn or mayhap even scary at times.

 Here is what I see:

Heritage

Both Ian and I come from the stock of family which loves the Lord and which has chosen His Word as the foundation of our lives, our family’s lives….

And, as God wakes up my self this morning, first thoughts coming from my head are a desperate plea for His help to help me mother better, parent better, lay down HIS word on the hearts of my worldly self, my world children, my worldly home, so that we, too, will be strong stones on the walk of our forefather’s heritage.

My great fear?

That while my children know of God, they do not know God.

So easy when they are little and a captive audience to sing, and pray, and talk all Jesus.

To share His mighty battle stories and have ears turned to listen with rapt attention.

So easy to set them to “Bible Man” singing and stomping out “Being in the Lord’s Army”.

Sweet and simple it is to fold their little hands and pray; to clap hands and shout at the top of their voices, “Jesus loves me”.

I long for a re-do on those days where I held captive their little growing, Godly hearts all pliant and bending and willing.  When their every moment was an immersion into the love of Christ, the heart of Christ, the will of Christ.

For it is a much less simple thing to cause them to realize God’s great provision when they grow into their age and into their world.

I write and write and write, pouring out my soul’s longing on pen and paper, laying down my hopes and dreams for my children to read when I am no longer here to guide.

But for 2013, what I long most for is to teach and teach and teach God’s word, God’s will, God’s love to my children. To live it more….daily….now, where they can see and hear and learn and be changed.

I claim that verse, “(Isaiah 55:10-11) For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: (11) So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent.

I claim His promise that anything which comes from Him will not return void but will accomplish that which He pleases…

And, not only that is accomplishes, but that it prospers His purpose.

I claim it.  I claim it.  I claim it.

And, I seek His ways….how does a mother of a twenty-two year old and two seventeen year olds reach into their hearts where God’s Word has been planted and pull it out right where they can see and remember and live it?

I have good children.  Great children.

And, if I ever doubted their tender hearts, those doubts were laid to rest this weekend as pain and sorrow became their guiding lights as they buried their sweet Papaw.  Love overflowed in our home…words were sweet, comfort real, tears few, but Jesus was present in the hearts of my children….all of HIM.

As I set them on a path with their Dad to go bury their Papaw, I wept for things broken, lost and unredeemed in the lives of my children.  Would there be no hope, I would just lay my head down and sleep with Papaw right there on that Eastern Kentucky mountain and, right still, sleep between him and my heavenly deposit named baby Joseph Matthew Scott McKenzie.

But, there is hope, and it is that hope I claim today in the lives of mine…and my children’s.

Hope that “never will he leave us nor forsake us”, even when we fall short.

And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.  Romans 8:37-30

For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11

I claim that future and that hope…..
I claim it for myself, my husband but especially I claim it for my children…
I was moved recently by the words of a favorite sister blogger, Ann Voscamp…..when she said in that intimate way she speaks, that there are only a few people who truly know her heart from the inside out….God….and because of God, our children.
I love that vision…
God creates our heart and places it in our earthly bodies and then knits those souls of our children right there inside where they, too, for a brief season, come to know our hearts, “from the inside.”
Powerful, powerful thought.
Wonderous, wonderous gift.
A treasure to be nurtured and cared for and loved.
So, as I head into 2013 with this exquisite picture in my head and on  my heart of my obligation to Him and to them, my children, I am prayerfully asking Him  to show me all of the ways I need to be…..to bring more of Him into the lives of my semi-adult children while I still have them in  my home.
Here is a start….I share with you and ask you to pray for me and our family….
What can you expect God to do in your life in 2013? Some pretty incredible things. You can expect:
  • God’s mercies to follow you, and pursue you, every every minute of every hour of every day. “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever. ” (Psalm 23:6)
  • God to meet every single true need that should arise. “And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19)
  • God to lead you, counsel you, guide you, and give you wisdom. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)
  • God to freely forgive your sins each time you repent. “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9)
  • God to wonderfully correct and discipline you if you should stray into sin. “For the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and chastises every son whom he receives.” (Hebrews 12:6)
  • God to continue working powerfully in you as you pursue holiness. “…work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.” (Philippians 2:12-13)
  • God to help you overcome patterns of sin that have plagued you for years. “For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace. ” (Romans 6:14)
  • God to use trials in your life to refine and purify your faith. “Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.” (James 1:2-4)
  • God to give you every good thing. “No good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly.”
God has promised to do all these things, and many more. His promises are sure. 2013 is bursting with blessings                                    by Stephen Altrogge on January 1, 2013
I claim these actions from God (of which the list would be so endless), and in faith that He will help me, I promise Him in return to seek him more….with all of my heart, my body and my soul.  I ask Him to grow in me a deeper passion for His Word, His work and a stronger understanding of His love.
I seek simplicity in my daily life and an order which places Him and His word first on my heart each morning as I first awake.
I seek His guidance to those right passages which will guide my day.
I seek Him fostering in my a heart for prayer before my feet would hit the floor each day.
And, I ask Him not to just cover me with HIM, but to empty me of me and to pour fully from toes to top of head, HIM so that there is no room for a single morsel of anything which is NOT….Him.
And, I pray for diligent, permanent and deep-rooted change in my heart which is so evident, so redeeming, so tender and changing and loving that my children, at the core of their very being are changed as well.
I call for what dear friend and God-soldier  Austin French told me on May 11, 2010, when others were silent to me….”Lesa, pray for change….undo this thing…..redo it rightly….and pray that God would use you to do radical changes for GOOD for GOD.”  He and his wife Belinda, right there, in their car, stopped and prayed and encouraged me and another for change in our lives, our marriage, our children and our home.
I weep now that I, did not understand Austin’s meaning, caught up in sorrow and pain and fear which leaving seemed the only survival path.  But, now, I understand….and, now I pick myself up from my face-down position on the ground, in faith and hope and understanding that there is more He calls me/us to do.
And, it starts today….and tomorrow and all the days from this day hence…
Give it over…not just a part, but the whole…of everything.
God requires it all….
Pray that for me, for my family.
That we give our all…..to Him.
So, that one hundred years from now when young children walk the halls of their ancestor’s home, the faces of their unknown family, their heritage, they can KNOW that these flesh and blood people who walked this earth before them
Knew HIM…
I want that for myself.  I want my children to know HIM, to know I know HIM…..so that their children will come to be in HIM.
It is my most sincere wish for the hearts God gave to me, the ones who know my heart from the inside…that they know His heart from all sides.
Blessings,
Lesa

James O. McKenzie, Papaw James
Photo: Day #3: for the life of
James O. McKenzie, to a man who loved his wife, his family, his grandkids to the top of the mountain and back. "Go Rest High Upon That Mountain".....We love you "bunches" Papaw James ` GRATEFUL

"Go Rest High Upon That Mountain….Son, Your Work on Earth is Done"

I send my children down a road, to a place I no longer travel, but to where, I know, they always will, and to where, I know, my heart will always follow.  On a road, down through the mountains, across the highway and around the bend in the curve that is called Staffordsville.  I have traveled those miles many, many times since 1985.  But on this one, last trip to lay to rest their Papaw James, they go only with their Dad.
My children have traveled those miles….in the Winter at Christmas time while singing, “Over the River and Through the Woods, to Mamaw and Papaw’s house we go”.  They have traveled in the Spring when the trees were fresh buds of God’s glory and their faces lit up as the “mountains” were kissed by the sun.  They have ridden back seat in the Summer all bathing-suited up and ready for a fresh splash in their Aunt/Uncle’s pool and they have traveled in the Fall when the leaves on the trees turned colors that only God could construe….with “Ahhhs” and “Ohhhss”  as they drove past the canvas of God’s handiwork.
As I send my children off today, with their father, to bury his father, I am drawn deep, deep into a “coal mine” of memories which God releases to me a little at a time so that the pain of loss is bearable.
I love James O. McKenzie.
I always felt his love returned. Even today.
And, while I didn’t always understand his mountain ways of doing things, I did come to understand what was important….He loved his family Big and Powerful and Mighty.  Like the solid, hard rock that is the foundation of his birthplace in Flat Gap, Kentucky, He was a strong and powerful and mighty-minded man.
His words were so few that even Mamaw told me once about Scott (who is exceedingly like his Dad), “don’t worry…after 50 years of marriage, you will learn not to need to hear him speak, you will just come to understand how he thinks.”  Papaw was like that.  He said very little, but one actually did come to understand what was important to him.
Hard work

A good horse trade

Saving frugally on everything but the family, and then spending generously

Grandchildren

Great grandchildren

Children

Grand daughters

Grand sons

Walking up the hill to his family’s grave site

Looking down from the hill over his family’s homeland

Breakfast bologna

The value of laying a $5 in the hand of a grandchild every time you see them

Sneaking the keys to his children’s cars and gassing the car up

His turn to do dishes

The value of laying $100 in the hand of his child every time he saw him

Insisting on paying because “that’s what Dad’s do”

Slow, steady steps through the woods with his grandchildren, telling tall tales along the way

Back porch swinging with his family

His favorite lazy boy chair (and, being sure to have his picture made holding all the grandbabies in it)

Stories, and more stories of life when he was young

The importance of heritage

Faith in people, even when it wasn't easy

The value of a good woman

The power of a hug, full body, front on

The enormity of a freely given smile to everyone who came through his door

The warmth of his large hands covering those of his little daughter-in-law (I held his hand one time in all of those years…in prayer…before we ate.  I will cherish that holding)

The sweetness of Mountain music and mountain people

Holding a grudge, but then letting it go

Being big brother at all times, through all seasons, not just the easy ones

The manly pride which comes from having sons, grandsons, great grandsons

The manly protectiveness which comes from having a wife, daughters, grand and great grand daughters

The ability to finally….yes, finally walk down the aisle to receive Christ as His Lord and Savior….because that is what God calls us to do.

I was not there the day he took on Christ, divorce settling itself into my soul in broken-hearted little pieces, so, I missed that great day with great regret.  Because I believe in my heart that when he took his walk, it was likely one of the most sincere acts I would have ever witnessed.

Papaw didn’t do many things lightly.  Accepting Christ was to him, not just something someone did at random pace, but rather, that which one did with FULL ACCORD…with one’s whole heart, whole body and whole soul.

He didn’t allow others to push or guilt him into it….He did it in his own time, when he and God agreed it was time.

I believe God blessed that walk in mighty and powerful ways which we have yet to see the fruit of….

Because when he walked, his steps may have taken him humbly to the cross, but they also took those of his flesh and blood with him:  his beloved wife, his sons, his daughters, and all the many grand and great-grands that come behind him, for if you polled them, all would mightily agree….Papaw took that walk in great faith that day…in great hope….in great belief and after years of talking it over with God.

This is his legacy to his family….to lay down his mountain pride at the foot of the cross.

This is his greatest gift to his family….to show humility, strength of conviction and strict obedience to the Will of God.

I see in my children, each of them, constant little reminders to me that yes, they have Papaw James’ bold, brave blood running through their veins.  As water runs strong down the mountains of Eastern Kentucky, so does the blood of James O. McKenzie, run strong through the veins of my babies.

I thank God for Mr. McKenzie.  For because of him, I have them…..my four precious gifts from God who daily remind me of HIM, my heavenly father, and of him, my earthly father-in-law (always).

And, as they go to lay him to rest, a rest of which he is so deserving, I cannot help but smile.

He would want that….he would cut a joke, or tickle or tease, all for the sake of a smile, a sing of laughter, a glance of teary happiness

I don’t think he would want us to weep today, but rather to smile.

I don’t think he would want us to be bound in great sorrow, but rather to give way to great joy.

I don’t think he would want us to hold back in ego or pride, but to do as he did….

Walk forward in forgiveness, in compassion and in LOVE.

As far as I could see, that is what he seemed to do.

I think if he was here today, he would look us straight into our faces, and tell us to love one another, to remember the good, to let go of the bad and

To walk….

Up that great mountain……where God and Glory and Mountain Sunshine live.

Blessings and honor

To a man who I will always hold dear, a true father to me through all seasons,

Even in this season of rest….

James O. McKenzie, May 22, 1927 - January 2, 2013

In loving memory of a man who was good to me and mine in a way which forever changed us.  You will always live on because you live in our hearts and your blood runs through my children like the water runs down the mountain.  You will always be loved by us.

"Go Rest High Upon That Mountain".....

My humblest thanks for all you were in my and my children's lives,

If It’s Monday, It’s Mama……on Tuesday, NEW YEAR’S DAY 2013
January 1, 2013

“A” is for Action
When you were 4, I received a call from Southern Hills Montessori requesting I come to the school ASAP.  They assured me that yes, you were perfectly fine, but that no, you would not come out of the top of the tree.  Mrs. Mailfald, you teacher, didn’t sound upset, or mad…..but rather, cautiously delighted.

Says I to her, “really?  You mean Madison, my daughter, is up in the top of a tree?”

Says she, “oh yes, and a very high tree it is…she is almost to the top.”  “You might want to hurry.”

So, I, being the good mother of an explorer daughter, pull up my pregnant self (with her twin brothers inside) and drive over to the school.  I don’t remember exactly what month it was….late October, I think, because you had on tights and a light jacket, but the sun was shining very brightly and the trees did not have many leaves.

We stood there at the bottom of that tree, hands over eyes to blot out the sun and looked up high…very high…to see your little tight-clad bottom as it climbed higher still.

Calmly I ask, “Madison, where do you think you are going?”

Calmer still, you reply, “On a “venture”.

A what?  A “venture.

Mrs. Mailfald leans over and explains to me that you were in the “A”s already AGAIN at school, having gone through the entire alphabet already, and that this week’s word for you was “ADVENTURE”.

“Where are you adventuring to?”

“Heaven”.

“Heaven?  Why heaven?”

“Because when you are UP in heaven, you can see every little thing and every big thing.  It is the only place where you can see both at the same time.

I look at Mrs. Mailfald….she nods yes…..and shrugs her shoulders in agreement.  They had been studying quantities and differentials – big/small, up/down, in/out, high/low, full/empty.

And, it was a Christian Montessori, so of course, HEAVEN, was up where God lived and where all things are possible.

Mrs. Mailfald said, “I think Madison was listening to our lessons.  I think she gets it.”

What makes me smile most recalling this “Adventure” is that the three of us, Mrs. Mailfald, Mrs. Hartman (your other teacher) and I stood from down below, looking high up and trying to decide…do we make you come down (you really could hurt yourself…it really is a tall tree…you are such a smallish girl.  Or, should we let you climb to what you deem is the “top” and let God show you His handiwork?

Hmmmm…..

We stood, by silent agreement.

We did spread out a little in case you fell so that hopefully, one of us would be nearby to catch you.

Your little tennis-shod feet climbed higher and higher…

“Mama….I am getting very high, am I in heaven yet?”

“I don’t know, are you?”

Little hands grabbed exceedingly smaller and smaller branches, you bit your tongue and kept climbing.  You were not slow about it at all, but rather moved with a purpose.

My heart gave way each time you stumbled trying to reach the next branch to climb to….each time the branch seemed to get smaller and smaller in your hand…

Until finally, you came to a spot in the tree where the branches had broken way and there was a clearing where sunlight poured in and onto your face so brightly that you could not see well to move farther.

“I made it!!  I made it!”

“And, it is B E A U T I F U L!

You spelled it with a ShOuT!!!!! (yes, you actually spelled the word out loud).

I can see Everything….and, you started naming off all the wonders you could see…one by one.
The tops of houses, the birds, the swing set, the picnic tables, cars driving by, kids playing, the tops of or heads, the sun…..

It was a life-changing moment….for you

For me

Then, as quickly as you went up, you “ventured” down…not at all afraid you would fall, but with child-like wonderful confidence that you could do anything, including coming down from a tree where you had seen heaven!

At the last branch, I reached out my hands to catch you and you jumped into my arms….cheeks all pink and eyes are bright….joy on your face!

I hugged you hard and with a grateful heart.

“Mama….I had a ‘venture……and, it was good.”

“Can I keep it?”

“Can you keep it?”  “What do you mean?”

“Can I keep it so I remember it?”

I don’t know if you have “kept” this memory of the tree climbing adventure, but that was when, as your mother, I started truly journaling hard…writing details of your life so that one day, when time was once again my friend and I could sit to write, that I would have kept enough of the memory to write them to you.

It seemed like such a smallish ACTION at the time, but now, as I find little written reminders of your life’s adventures, I smile…..and, I write.
So, as we head into this New Year 2013, I want to challenge you to ACTION.

Life changing action…..committed action…..forward action.

Those things you want to accomplish this year will not happen unless you work toward making them happen….work toward them.

Prayerfully ask God’s direction for the next 365 days, whisper to Him your hopes and dreams of great adventures for your life….

Ready……Set…..Go

Gary Black……“is thinking: The best way to be a different person one year from now is to change your thinking. You will BE, 365 days hence, exactly where your thoughts take you.   ~Gary Black, Campus Director Southland Christian Church”

In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead……James 2:17

I challenge you to call upon the faith of your youth to grow your faith this year….so that you are ALIVE and have ACTION toward Him…..

That same faith that drew you up toward Him by climbing the tallest tree….in four-year-old faith….

Have that, claim that, live that faith

For the next 365 days….

And watch the mighty, powerful, beautiful, creative, consistent, true, amazing ways God will reveal Himself to you!!

“Why are you sleeping?  Wake up and pray!”  Jesus to the disciples asleep in the garden Luke 22:46 NAB

Because Action, at its heart, starts with waking up and praying!
