If It’s Monday, It’s Mama….
Finding Joy is a Choice!
In the wee hours of the morning, as I starting thinking
about what I wanted to share with you today, words came very quickly to
mind…flowing thoughts about the past 48 hours…..
But, then I caught myself….
Because the past 48 hours have been pretty painful for you
and our family…and, it occurred to me…if we truly mean what we wrote and talked
about last week….about living joyfully, then shouldn’t we start now?
So, instead, I want us to share joy today….praises for the
good things, the blessings in our lives.
A joyful experience: You
helped a person last week in a real and meaningful way…I am so proud of you for
doing that. I think you were proud of
yourself in a real and humble way. Isn’t
it great when God uses us in the service of another human?? I know as a parent that if I had a person
stop and help my child, possibly saving their life, I would be eternally
grateful. I imagine this young man and
his family feel the same way today. I
think what made me most proud was your humble approach to aiding this young
man. You didn’t rush in and try to take
over the situation, you just did what you medically knew to do. You worked side by side with two others to
help him. What could have ended disastrously,
was made better by your assistance and the assistance of others. THAT is what life is all about. What also is exciting to me was that you were
prepared….never having helped someone like that before, having the pressure of
being the “expert” in the crowd (only b/c you had on scrubs and everyone
thought you were a nurse or doctor), you didn’t shrink away for helping….you
remained calm and “carried on”. I am
proud of that. Hearing you describe what
it was like to assist this young man is something stored on my mama’s heart
forever….especially your words…”it just came to me what to do….and the three of
us helping…we just quietly worked together”.
LOVE that.
We just quietly worked together….in Jesus name.
I pray you have many, many more opportunities to do that and
that you always remain humble of heart.
Another joyful experience…meeting a young man who is kind
and considerate and gentlemanly and who treats you like the young lady you
are! Not sure how this will work out,
but, am glad you have this season to know a nice young man. I pray often that if it be God’s will you
should marry (but, I hope not for a LONG TIME), that He bring you together with
a Godly man. We have discussed often the
importance of dating men who are Christians….and, honestly, it helps when they
come from a Christian home as well. You do marry the family and not just the
person. I think you are blessed to
have a few Godly men in your life….cherish those “friend-ships”. I am grateful that you seem focused on
school, I pray you grow in focus on worship and in the interim, am grateful you
have Godly dates in your lifeJ
Another joyful experience…preparing to spend time with
Ladder over your Fall Break. What a
compliment to him that you would like to spend time together. I know he is touched and is very much looking
forward to it! And, a little get-a-way
time for you is good too! I hope you
will be able to rest, relax and be pampered a bitJ Enjoy these memory making days….they are
God’s gift to us…call your Grandparents while you are there!! Enjoy the lake views, walk in the chilled
air….read your Bible, cook healthy meals together, enjoy the scenery….it is an
absolutely lovely place.
Finally….I could go on and on, but one thing I want to leave
you with….
As our whole little community became aware this past week
with the loss of Tyler Hicks, life is truly short…make the most of your each
and every day, surround yourself with Godly people, precious family members and
good friends. Make the most of each day…
Be a blessing to someone every day….and, start with
yourself.
And, in all things, strive for being JOYFUL!
It is a choice we make every day....every single day.
ILYAOYMC,
Mama
